[Living] Simple home ideas with IKEA this Chinese New Year

Need ideas for your reunion dinner this Chinese New Year? IKEA does it again with their latest range of CNY limited edition products, centering on the Year of the Monkey (Chinese Zodiac). The range is aplenty, and I was spoilt for choice as usual.

In this post, I put together tableware from the LYCKSALIG range, complemented with other IKEA products to create a table setting suitable for the upcoming festivities. The Chinese believe red to be an auspicious colour, and the brighter the better, so I added some red highlights on the dining table. To balance the red hues, I toned it down with neutral colours such that it is still relevant at any time of the year.

HÄMTA, clear glass pitcher ($14.90).

LYCKSALIG, paper napkins ($1.90/30 napkins) and LYCKSALIG, coaster ($5.90/4 pcs). Tie up the paper napkins with twine for a rustic look.

LYCKSALIG, deep plate ($4.90) matched with DINERA, grey blue plate ($2.90) and DOFTA, red potpourri ($1.90). Create a name tag for your guest to add a personalised touch.

ÄTBART, 24-piece cutlery set ($23.90). Loving the details and heavy-weighted feel of this cutlery set.
If you have not checked out this range at IKEA, it is worth dropping by to do your CNY shopping. A little effort goes a long way in pleasing your guests and creating a memorable dining experience for all.

Here’s wishing everyone a bright and great 2016 ahead!

Prices quoted are in SGD and accurate as of 11 Jan 2016.
