I was invited by FashVacation (FV) to be a guest speaker of the “I LOVE BEAUTIFUL FOOD” workshop. The workshop is a part of their “EAT DRESS FEEL WELL” campaign, which aims to introduce participants to appreciate better eating choices, to eat and drink better tasting or healthier food.
The workshop consisted of a few parts: coffee appreciation, basic food photography/styling talk and sampling of bakes, and it was held at the lovely premises of Mean Bean and Wicked Grind Cafe. It was a meaningful collaboration between FashVacation, Mean Bean and Wicked Grind, V’s Kitchen and Vickii Ma.com, The Belly & Co, and Milkmade. We each contributed an element that made this workshop successful. The lovely people of FashVacation organized the event and brought us together. Kimberly Yeo of Mean Bean and Wicked Grind contributed her coffee expertise and gave an informative talk on the process of coffee making. Shanna Xu of The Belly & Co graciously provided her lovely homeware to style my vegan bakes. Kim and Bryan, of Milkmade, offered a decadent Butterscotch pie for the participants.
As part of my segment, I gave an introduction about my vegan bakes, and shared more about vegan baking such as the ingredients that are usually substituted. For the tasting component of the workshop, I brought a vegan carrot cake and vegan banana-coconut loaf cake. The vegan cakes contain no butter, no (dairy) milk and no eggs. I’m glad the cakes were well-received by the participants! Thereafter, I gave a short talk on the basics of Food Photography/Styling, shared some useful tips, where to buy props as well as photo-editing applications. I hope the talk was beneficial to those interested in food photography!
The setting of the event was intimate and cozy, the atmosphere was warm and friendly and we indulged in light conversations and wholesome bakes. I had so much fun meeting everyone. Thank you for having me once again, FashVacation!
